KCC, Olivet team up to train nurses

Kankakee Community College and Olivet Nazarene University are joining forces to train nurses.

Both KCC and ONU offer academic programs in nursing. KCC has a two-year associate degree and Olivet offers a bachelor's degree. The new partnership is being offered through ONU's School of Graduate and Continuing Studies. It offers baccalaureate-level classes for KCC registered nursing graduates on the KCC Riverfront Campus. The classes will meet one evening per week for four hours.

Additionally, KCC graduates will receive a 20 percent discount off ONU's tuition for the nursing degree completion courses.

"Our intent in creating this extraordinary partnership is to develop a skilled workforce," said KCC President Dr. John Avendano.

"We have joined efforts to push hard for student success, and we're proud to say that our partnership will make a difference for students and the future of nursing education. Working together with Olivet, we are making the path to a bachelor's degree in nursing more convenient and cost effective.
