NFL seeks $1.5M from M.I.A. over Super Bowl finger

NEW YORK M.I.A. says she's been legally harassed by the NFL since she extended a middle finger while performing alongside Madonna at Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.

The Hollywood Reporter said Friday that the NFL filed arbitration documents demanding $1.5 million from M.I.A. for breaching her contract and tarnishing the league's reputation. Last week the league asked for summary judgment finding her liable before trial.

The 38-year-old British-Sri Lankan singer was performing the song "Give Me All Your Luvin"' when she gave the finger to a TV audience of more than 100 million.

M.I.A. has been quiet about the legal wrangling that followed, but her attorney Howard King says she now plans to speak out against the league.

The NFL did not comment beyond saying its lawyers are handling the issue.

Pro-Clinton super PAC raises $1.25 million

WASHINGTON — The super PAC is missing an official candidate, but the political action committee encouraging Hillary Rodham Clinton to seek the presidency in 2016 has raised $1.25 million.

Most of the money -- $1 million was collected in June, officials said.

Details on the sources of the money and how much of it remains in the bank will be disclosed Wednesday when the Ready for Hillary super PAC files its first report with the Federal Election Commission.

Clinton, who left her secretary of State post in February, has not announced whether she intends to make another bid for the White House, but several of her supporters and top fundraisers are working with the super PAC to build an infrastructure to support her candidacy. The group filed its paperwork with federal regulators in January, but did not begin fundraising in earnest until the spring.

The fundraising total emerged as Clinton shared attention-grabbing meals this week with President Obama and Vice President Biden -- her 2008 campaign rivals-turned-allies. She lunched with Obama at the White House on Monday and had breakfast Tuesday with Biden, who is reportedly weighing his own 2016 bid for the White House.
