BRICK — A motor vehicle stop by police for a driver talking on his cellphone led to the arrest of a Louisiana man on Monday afternoon, who was wanted in New Orleans, township police reported.
Ramon O. Santos, 44, was wanted on a warrant issued for a larceny/theft offense by the New Orleans police. Santos was transported to the Ocean County jail in Toms River to await extradition back to New Orleans.
Police stopped Santos?s car near Route 35 and Bay Avenue South at about 2 p.m. on Monday. Santos told police he was employed by a construction company based out of Louisiana.
Police caution residents to check the references of workers hired to do home repairs in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy. To report an issue with a home repair worker, contact the police.
