An informational meeting about the newly formed Peotone Community Foundation will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday Aug. 15 at the Peotone Park District building.
The meeting is for all residents who would like to help make Peotone a better place for everyone. Help is needed with coming up with an action plan.
The organizers of the foundation fear if community and local businesses are not encouraged to grow and develop, they will become obsolete. The nonprofit organization was formed and relies solely on fundraising, donations and grants to be able to bring to fruition the projects its members feel will improve the lives of Peotone residents.
Board members are: president Stephanie Chambers; vice president, Kelly Popp; secretary, Charlotte Mathers; treasurer, Tammy Fisher; and recorder, Amy Leddy.
