Iroquois Lady Ag seminar to feature Clydesdales

Clydesdale draft horses will be the special topic of the annual Lady Ag Seminar, sponsored by the Iroquois County Soil and Water Conservation District Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau building in Gilman.

Phil Farrell, fourth generation Clydesdale breeder of Farrell Clydesdales at Lovington, Ill., will be the guest speaker. Draft horses have been bred and raised on his family's farm since 1850 and they have raised, shown and sold many of the top show horse in North America.

Other speakers will be:

• Farm Service Agency program assistant Charlene Neukomm, giving information on FSA programs;

• Thad Eshelman, SWCD resource conservationist, speaking on wetlands;

• Solomon Andrews, with a brief overview of Natural Resource Conservation Service programs; and

• Ben Josefic, FSA farm loan officer, on micro loans.

The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end with brunch before noon. Tickets are $6 — stop by the SWCD office in the Bury Administration Center, 1001 E. Grant St., Watseka or call 815-432-6055, ext. 3.
