SOMERVILLE — The credibility of a father?s purported confession is at the center of a New Jersey?s man bid for a new trial in a matricide case.
A judge began hearing testimony about the discovery from Walter Tormasi?s brother and sister on Tuesday.
He?s serving a life sentence for gunning down his mother in Bridgewater when he was a 16 in 1996.
The siblings say they found the signed notarized affidavit in 2003 in which their father confessed that he hired a hit man to kill his estranged wife. The siblings didn?t tell their brother about it until after their father died in 2010.
However, the final page containing the signature is missing.
Prosecutors are trying to contact the man who the father said he hired for a future court hearing.
