State police special patrols targeting school bus safety and impaired drivers

Lawbreakers be warned, Illinois State Police will conducting special patrols in an effort to nab drunk drivers in October.

During the third and fourth weekends in October, officers will be saturating certain parts of Kankakee, Iroquois and Ford counties to crack down on impaired motorists.

Throughout the rest of September state police will place an emphasis on bus safety. Officers will be in school zones making sure driver are reducing speeds and staying off their cellphones. Police also will be on the road looking for drivers passing school buses with activated stop signs.
